Saturday December 22:  Holiday Feast with Jordan Mercer

Guest chef Jordan Mercer from Gather is taking over Coda’s kitchen again, this time for a holiday feast featuring Southern cooking with an Asian twist: Southern-style local beef steaks pan-fried served with Asian curry gravy, lemongrass herbed mashed potatoes, tasting boards and deserts.  Join us for an informal, family-style meal at the community table to celebrate the season.

Jordan Mercer's love affair with Southern food began early, memories of slow-cooked Kansas City barbecue, foraging for morel mushrooms and biting into backyard vegetables. Jordan’s grandmother, a Cherokee American Indian, first taught her the art of cooking in her tiny farmhouse kitchen, mashing up potatoes and deep frying chicken on their family’s small farm.

For Jordan, good food has always been a sign of family, gathering and celebration. Her love for travel and desire to explore the culinary world took her across the globe for over a decade. First to Germany, where she learned the taste of German breads, krauts and meats. To the circus, where she cooked alongside Ossetians preparing traditional Russian cuisine and with Chinese Shaolin monks stir frying smells and flavors like no other. Living in Shanghai, China, she experienced new spices and authentic Asian fare firsthand; keeping with her the traditions and camaraderie that food evokes for each individual culture. Finally finding herself in Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia, she found her passion for fresh food with spice, color and lasting flavor: Southeast Asian Cuisine.

Doors will open at 5:30 for a cocktail hour, and dinner will be served at 6:30. This dinner has very limited capacity and reservations are required. The price is $65 per person, not including drinks. You can make reservation by filling out the form below:
