Saturday March 23: Songwriter Showcase

Our good friend, musician and all-around polymath Bowen Swersey has hosted a series of Songwriter Showcases at Coda: rounding up great local songwriting talent for an evening of original works. This showcase will feature Brian Kupiec, Trisha Mason, Kyle Duckworth, and Eric Horshack. Doors open for dinner at 6pm and music starts at 7pm. There’ll be a $5 cover and reservations are suggested at 244-8133.

Saturday March 30: Big Tree

Big Tree is a group featuring Bowen Swersey, whose baritone voice and acoustic guitar playing first came to Maine stages with The Beatroots in the mid 1990's. Big Tree's repertoire draws both from Bowen's original songs, which range from rock, to pop, to world beat, as well as select Classic Rock covers. Bassist Jarley Bobadilla hails from Havana, Cuba, and he brings his Latin and Caribbean heritage to the bottom of the mix. Drummer Mike Bennett will join them as a special guest, adding his virtuosic rhythm and bright smile. Mike and Bowen toured together for five years with the Beatroots, and this is their first reunion in more than fifteen years.

Another very special guest will be E.J. Simpson, formerly of the super-trio Maggi, Pierce, and EJ. E.J. is a monster multi-instrumentalist from Philadelphia, and will be visiting Maine with his one-man Jesus Christ Superstar show at the Barn Arts Collective on Friday, March 29th.

Doors open for dinner at 5pm and the music starts at 7pm. There’s a $5 cover and reservations are suggested at 244-8133.
