Big Tree is a new group on the MDI music scene, but it’s comprised of familiar faces. Former frontman of The Beatroots, Bowen Swersey will bring his alternative acoustic originals to light with the help of the stalwarts Phil Kell on fretless bass, Beau Lisy on percussion, and the outstanding Gus LaCasse on fiddle. Big Tree brings a potent combination of veteran experience and rookie hustle to the stage, as they play a mix of Swersey’s originals and “seldom heard” covers. Kell and Lisy, two of the area’s best players, provide a solid rhythmic framework for the songs, while LaCasse stretches far beyond his classical and traditional training. Big Tree will weave together medleys of originals with classic material as diverse as Cat Stevens, Cream, Prince, Dylan and Bob Franke.
Doors open at 4:00 for Happy Hour. Music starts 6:30pm. Reservations suggested at 244-8133.

Cooking with Carter: a Barn Arts Collective Fundraiser
Have you ever wanted to see what goes on in Coda’s kitchen? Curious about how Chef Carter Light actually makes and presents the food?
Then join Carter for an evening of cooking and cocktail lessons at Coda on May 30, 2017 at 4:00 o’clock. It’ll start at the bar with a step by step demonstration of mixing some of our signature cocktails. Then into the kitchen: Carter will be with you every step of the way as you create a multi-course meal including pasta, roasted carrots with cumin honey, burrata, and other treats. At the conclusion you’ll all sit down to a family-style meal of the plates you’ve prepared and enjoy live entertainment from members of the Barn Arts Collective.
The proceeds of this event are to benefit our very good friends at the Barn Arts Collective, a Tremont-based organization that since 2008 has been bringing people together in an amazing variety of live events. Barn Arts fosters the development of new artistic projects through free residencies, connects with underserved audiences of all ages through performances and arts education, and produces events and programs that lead to community engagement, enrichment, and collaboration.
The price to participate in this event is $100 and includes dinner for yourself and a guest. We have a limit of 10 participants so sign up soon. Call 207.244.8133 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
