Cooking with Coda – Sausage Making

Monday October 9

Remember the old adage about sausages: “better not to seen them being made…“?  Chef Carter says nuts to that and invites you into the kitchen to learn how he makes the delicious Colvard & Company sausages served at Coda.  The class will start at 4:00 and finishes with a home-style meal and a beer pairing featuring Tyler Johnson of the Liquor Locker.  The price to participate in this event is $100 and includes dinner for yourself and a guest.  We have a limit of 8 participants so sign up soon.  Call 207.244.8133 or send an email to info@codasouthwestharbor.com.

Dog Mountain Farewell Concert

Tuesday October 10

After 11 years of playing bluegrass on MDI and surrounds, Dog Mountain will play their last gig. The group performed its first show in the side yard of St. John Church in Southwest Harbor in 2006. Following that initial gig, Mike Ryan, Jim Vekasi, and Fred Benson played as a trio for a while before being joined by Stan Wass on the banjo, and Linda Soukup on the violin. Mike is a life-long lead guitarist and is well-versed in the history and traditions of bluegrass. Jim plays mandolin and octave mandolin in several MDI bands. Linda is a classically trained violinist who also sings with the Bagaduce Chorale in Blue Hill. Stan is a Maine Guide and plays a wicked banjo. Fred, on bass, started with the violin and plays just about every stringed instrument in the book.

Please join us to for a farewell celebration on Coda’s stage. The music starts at 6:30.  Dinner service begins at 5:00.  Reservations suggested; please call  207.244.8133 .
